outreach

Outreach to the community is an important part of the focus of South Bay Ballet. Over the past years, South Bay Ballet has provided free and reduced price tickets to live ballet performances to disabled and disadvantaged youth and adults and other underserved populations in order to increase their access to the Arts. Some of these deserving individuals have attended the final dress rehearsals for the ballet shows that SBB produces each year. South Bay Ballet strives to warmly welcome diverse audiences to our shows in order to fulfill our mission to bring high-quality arts to the largest possible audience across the Southland. In the past years, a few of the organizations that have participated with our outreach program include Pediatric Therapy Network, the Girl Scouts, and Harbor View Adolescent Centre.

An additional goal for the outreach program is to foster a spirit of community service in the over eighty pre-professional dance students that belong to the South Bay Ballet Company. These dancers range in age from 4-21. The outreach performances provide these dancers with an opportunity to give back to the community and to advance their understanding of individuals different from themselves.

We would like to thank Target Corporation and Francesca and Steven Townsend for their generosity in helping to underwrite the cost of our outreach program. If you would like to donate to this worthwhile cause, please contact Wendy Weinberg at 310-791-7566.
